The heat has hit Rome which means that your diet automatically changes. Aside from the seasonal transition of fresh produce, one would not imagine to eat a beautiful matriciana when it is 40 degrees out. Instead, at proper Italian/Roman restaurants you will find summer versions such as zucchini parmeasan instead of eggplant, zabaglione with fresh strawberries and lots of fresh fish.

Lately I can’t get enough of green beans and cherries. I suppose since I hardly consume them during “off months” I totally OD on them once they arrive.
